Abstract

High molecular weight polyamic acids have been synthesized by direct polycondensation of aromatic aminodicarboxylic acids in amide solvents in the presence of triphenylphosphite and a tertiary amine. A study has been made of the molecular weight of the polymers in relation to the concentration of the solutions, the temperature of the process and the catalyst concentration. The deformation - strength properties and thermal properties of the polyimide based on p-aminophenoxyphthalic acid were investigated.
