Abstract
A facile synthesis of <i>α</i>-mercaptoacetamidinium chlorides is described. The procedure consists of treating <i>α</i>-chloroacetamidinium chlorides with trisodium phosphorothioate that formed the corresponding <i>S</i>-alkyl phosphorothioates. The latter were not isolated, but were hydrolyzed in the reaction medium by hot dilute acid to furnish the required products.
