Abstract
The novel Cu(II) coordination polymer [Cu(1,5-nds)(bipy)(H2O)2]n·2nH2O (I) (1,5-nds = 1,5-naphthalenedisulfonate anion, bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine) with one-dimensional chain structure was synthesized in water by the reflux method. The complex was characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction, elemental analysis, infrared spectrum, UV-vis spectrum, and thermogravimetric analysis. The characterization results of X-ray single-crystal diffraction show that the both of sulfonate groups in the 1,5-naphthalenedisulfonate anion coordinate with two copper ions. The copper ion also coordinates with two nitrogen atoms from a 2,2′-bipyridine molecule and two oxygen atoms from two water molecules, respectively. The both of the uncoordinated water molecules like the nodes of a network connect to the complex molecules to form the three-dimensional network by the hydrogen bonds.
