Abstract

A new nickel(II) complex, [Ni(CMP)2(dca)2] (1), and a new manganese(III) complex, [MnCl(EDS)(H2O)] (2) (CMP = 4-chloro-6-[(3-cyclohexylammoniopropylimino)methyl]phenolate, dca = dicyanamide anion, and EDS = N,N′-ethylenebis(3,5-dibromosalicylideneimine)), were prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, IR spectra, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. X-ray determination indicates that complex 1 is a centrosymmetric mononuclear nickel(II) compound. The Ni atom, lying on an inversion center, is coordinated by O and N atoms from two Schiff base ligands, and N atoms from dca ligands, forming an octahedral coordination. Complex 2 is a mononuclear manganese(III) compound. The Mn atom is coordinated by O and N atoms of the Schiff base ligand, and water O and Cl atoms, forming an octahedral coordination. The crystals of the complexes are stabilized by hydrogen bonds. Supplemental materials are available for this article.
