Abstract

Reactions of InCl 3 and the sodium salts of 2-alkylaminocyclopentene-1-carbodithioic acids, R(H)NC (CH 2) 3 CC(S)SH (where R = H, Me, Et and n-Bu) and esters of the parent acid, H 2NC (CH 2) 3 C)C(S)SR 1 (where R 1 = Me and CH 2NEt 2) in 1: 3 molar ratios, yield derivatives with the general formulae, In[S(S) C (CH 2) 3 CN(H)R] 3 and In[N(H) C (CH 2) 3  CC(S))SR 1] 3, respectively. These complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weight determinations and conductometric measurements, as well as on the basis of their IR and NMR ( 1H, 13C and 14N) spectral data. The bonding of indium with the acids is through SS −, whereas with esters bonding occurs from the NS sites.
