Abstract

Diorganotellurium(IV) compounds containing (TeS) bonds of the general formulae [R 2Te(S 2 POGO ) 2] [R = Ph or p-MeOC 6H 4; G = CH(Me)CH(Me),Me 2CCMe 2,CH 2C(Me 2)CH 2, (Me)CHCH 2C(Me 2), CH 2C(Et 2)CH 2] have been prepared by the reaction of R 2Te(OR′) 2 (R′ = Me or Et) and corresponding O,O′-alkylene dithiophosphoric acids or by the reaction of R 2TeCl 2 with [NH 4S 2 POGO ] in anhydrous toluene. The products have been characterized using analytical and spectroscopic (IR, 1H, 13C, 31P and 125Te NMR) data. The products are monomeric in nature and their possible structures are discussed.
