Abstract

In this work, a series of Er3+, Yb3+: NaGd(WO4)2 crystals were grown by the Czochralski method. The phase structure of the crystal was determined to be tetragonal scheelite by X-ray diffraction and FT-IR. Then the absorption spectrum, emission spectrum and fluorescence attenuation curves of the crystal were analyzed. The intensity parameters (Ω2, Ω4, Ω6) were obtained by Judd-Ofelt theory, and the emission and absorption cross sections were calculated. The results show that Er3+, Yb3+: NaGd(WO4)2 crystals are suitable for 1.5 μm band gain medium.
