Abstract

In this paper, Ho3+: NaY0.1Gd0.9(WO4)2 crystal was grown by the Czochralski method. The pure tetragonal system of Ho3+: NaY0.1Gd0.9(WO4)2 crystal has been verified by the X-ray diffraction characterization. The fluorescence spectrum, absorption spectrum and luminescence decay curves of Ho3+ ions in crystals were recorded at room temperature and the spectroscopic properties have been analyzed in detail. The intensity parameters are obtained by Judd-Ofelt theory, the gain coefficients and emission and absorption cross sections are calculated. It is evidenced that Ho3+: NaY0.1Gd0.9(WO4)2 crystal is a promising gain medium for 2.0 μm lasers.
