Abstract

Commercial pseudo-boehmite was modified, and a series of mesoporous aluminas (MA) with different textural properties were synthesized using selected group of surfactants including sodium dodecylsulphate (SDS), cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), and polyethylene glycol (PEG) in aqueous solution. The structure and morphology of samples were evaluated, and the catalytic activity for the methane combustion was also discussed. The results suggested that sample templated by PEG exhibited a high pore volume and surface area when calcined at 1050 °C. This considerably improved the catalytic performance for methane combustion. The light-off (T10) and final (T90) combustion temperatures were as low as 305 °C and 400 °C.
