Abstract

The reaction of [MoCl 4(PPh 3) 2] with NH 2Bu t in CH 2Cl 2 yields yellow crystals of [MoCl 4(NH 2Bu t) 2]· 2NH 2Bu t. The structure is shown to consist of both cis and trans isomers of [MoCl 4(NH 2Bu t) 2] and uncoordinated NH 2Bu t molecules. Crystal data: triclinic space group, P 1 , a=11.767(4), b=12.428(4), c= 19.338(5) Å, α=90.40(2), β=93.19(2), γ= 102.20(2)°, V=2759.3(14) Å 3, D calc=1.28 g cm −3, Z=4. Structure solution and refinement based on 2651 reflections (Mo Kα, λ=0.71073 Å, F o⩾ 6σ( F o)) converged at R=0.058.
