Abstract
The title compound is composed of one [Co(bipy)(H2O)4]2+ cation, one 4,4′-diazenediyldiphthalate anion(H2DDA), and six free water molecules, where Co(II) adopts an octahedral geometry and is coordinated by four water oxygen atoms and two N atoms of 4,4′-bipyridine (bipy) ligands. The [Co(bipy)(H2O)4]2+ cations are linked into 1D chains by bipy ligands. Those cations chains are further connected into 3D net with the free H2DDA and water molecules through hydrogen bonds.
