Abstract

An acyclic Schiff base ligand containing N2O3 donor atoms was synthesized by the condensation reaction of 2,6-diformyl-4-ter-butylphenol and 4-aminoantipyrine. The synthesized ligand and complexes of the metal ions [CrIII, FeIII, CoII,NiII,CuII and ZnII] were characterized by 1HNMR, 13CNMR, mass spectrometry, UV/visible, FTIR, atomic absorption, elemental analysis (C.H.N.), molar conductivitym and magnetic susceptibility measurements. A binuclear complex was obtained through phenolic oxygen acting as a bridge between two metal ions.
