Abstract

Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) complexes with (3Z,3'Z)-3,3'-(propane-1,3-diylbis(azaneylylidene))bis(2-methylbutan-2-ol) as Schiff base ligand were readied. Their properties and structures have been investigated on the basis of elemental analysis, magnetic measurement, infrared, electronic spectra, molar conductance's and 1HNMR for the ligand and cadmium complex. The analytical and spectroscopic studies revealed that the Schiff base behaved as a tetra dentate ligand coordinated to the metal ion through the two azomethine nitrogen and the two alcoholic oxygen atoms with the most probable octahedral complexes.
