Abstract

Tetrazine compounds, especially their energetic salts, show good application prospect in high-performing energetic materials (EMs). Among them, the hydroxylammonium salt show the best energetic properties. In order to obtain high performance tetrazine energetic salts, 3-hydrazino-6-(1H-1,2,3,4-tetrazol-5-ylimino)-s-tetrazine was selected as the precursor to synthesize its hydroxylammonium salt (HHTTz). The prepared compound was fully characterized by NMR spectra, IR, elemental analysis and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Its thermal behaviors were analyzed and the thermodynamic parameters were also calculated at different heating rates. The results disclose that HHTTz possesses onset and the peak temperature at 174.63 °C and 179.63 °C. The thermal safety parameters of HHTTz are relatively inferior to HTATz. What's more, the detonation properties and impact sensitivities were obtained. HHTTz show high detonation properties (D = 9555 m/s and P = 34.1 GPa). The D is better than that of HMX and the P is comparable to that of RDX. Besides, it shows impact sensitivity of 12 J, which reveal HHTTz could be a good candidate of traditional secondary explosive.
