Abstract

Abstract A new photoconducting polymer (PSX-An) having aminostyrylanthracene pendant group has been synthesized and characterized. The primary structure of the target compound was characterized by IR, 1H NMR, UV–Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy. In the case of the current polymer used in this work, the highest occupied molecular orbital value as determined from cyclic voltammetry is about −5.28 eV. The influence of the aminostyrylanthracene on photogeneration efficiency in polymer film of PSX-An doped the buckminsterfullerene C60, has been determined and analyzed by using xerographic discharge method. An enhancement of photogeneration efficiency was observed with increasing the external electric field at an operating wavelength of 633 nm. It is remarkable that the photogeneration efficiency is calculated to be 3.34 × 10−3 under a low field (0.88 V/cm) at an operating wavelength of 633 nm.
