Abstract

We have synthesized a series of a-nitronyl nitroxides derived from 1,2,4-triazole, composed by one diradical and two monoradicals. The magnetic exchange interaction for the obtained diradical was investigated by means of ESR spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Room temperature ESR spectrum revealed the presence of a magnetic coupling of the two radical moieties. On the other hand, the temperature dependence of the half-field signal at low temperature, as well as magnetic susceptibility of a solid sample of the diradical, revealed the presence of a weak antiferromagnetic intramolecular interaction with J/k B = - 1.6 K.
