Abstract

ABSTRACTZn3B2O6:Eu3+, Li+ red-emitting phosphors were prepared by high temperature solid-state reaction. X-ray diffraction of samples confirmed that single orthorhombic phase of Zn3B2O6 was obtained and doped Eu3+, Li+ ions had not changed crystal structure. The effects of the doping concentration of Eu3+ and charge compensator Li+ on luminescence properties of Zn3B2O6:Eu3+, Li+ were investigated. Under excitation of near ultraviolet (394 nm) and blue light (465 nm), a strong red emission of Zn3B2O6:Eu3+ phosphors centered 620 nm was obtained, which assigned to electronic transitions 5D0→7F2 of Eu3+ ions. Compared with Zn3B2O6:Eu3+ phosphors, the luminescence properties of Zn3B2O6:Eu3+, Li+ samples were enhanced by the addition of Li+ as charge compensator. The prepared samples could be a potential red phosphor for white light-emitting diodes.
