Abstract

We report a simple synthesis of aggregates of individual Pd colloidal nanoparticles linked by bridging ligands that may be used to advance the strong hydrogen storage properties of palladium nanoparticles. The aggregates were characterized by transmission electron microscopy and infrared spectroscopy. The bridged aggregates showed up to 1.0 wt% hydrogen absorption, about 6.7 times that of pristine isocyanide-protected Pd nanoparticles.
