Abstract

This study reports both the synthesis of a new one-dimensional-like compound, Mo 6Te 6 (isostructural to Mo 6Se 6), and the intercalation of lithium into it using test cells. Like Mo 6Se 6, Mo 6Te 6 undergoes topotactic redox reactions with lithium, and we show that it can reversibly accommodate up to 7 lithiums. However, the degree of reversibility of these cells is less than that observed for Li Mo 6Se 6 , test cells.
