Abstract
Two new indium phosphites, (C 2N 2H 10)[In(OH) 3(HPO 3)] I and (C 4N 2H 12)[In 2(HPO 3) 3(H 2PO 3) 2] II have been synthesized under mild hydrothermal conditions using ethylenediamine and piperazine as structure-directing agents, respectively and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, TGA, ICP-AES and elemental analyses. Compound I displays a one-dimensional ladder structure containing edge-sharing four-member rings. Compound II displays a complex three-dimensional open-framework containing multi-dimensional intersecting eight-membered ring channels. It is noted that compound II is the first organically templated indium phosphite with three-dimensional open-framework. Another striking feature of II is that it possesses a novel two-dimensional double sheet which is constructed by H 2PO 3 pseudo-pyramids and the one-dimensional ladders that are similar to those observed in I. Crystal data: I, H 14C 2N 2O 6PIn, M = 307.94, orthorhombic, space group P2 12 12 1, a = 6.6483(6) Å, b = 9.7106(9) Å, c = 12.9537(12) Å, V = 836.28(13) Å 3, Z = 4, and II, H 19C 4N 2O 15P 5In 2, M = 719.70, monoclinic, space group P2 1/ c, a = 9.4610(2) Å, b = 9.4028(2) Å, c = 20.963(5) Å, β = 100.186(1), V = 1835.6(7) Å 3, Z = 4.
