Abstract

Solar energy is one of the few renewable, sustainable and inexhaustible energy sources. Extensive research has been carried out in order to harness this solar energy in the form of solar cells. The chemical bath deposition method is used to synthesize various sizes of Tin Sulphide (SnS) quantum dots (QD’s) which can be used as absorber layer in solar cell. This deposition method is carried out in two ways- using a magnetic stirrer and without using one. The Size variation of QD’s from 3nm - 5nmis achieved by the use of a capping agent (Oleic acid) and byvarying the deposition time. The results of the particle size, structure and morphology of the quantum dots thus obtained are confirmed using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis.
