Abstract

The fabrication of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) based metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) nanocomposites for applications at room temperature gas sensing have attracted growing interest in during recent years. The present work, one dimensional (1-D) rGO-NiO nano fibers were fabricated by employing electrospinning technique for detection of NH3 gas at room temperature. SEM, XRD, BET, DRS and XPS were used to analyse the surface morphology, structure, composition of materials and optical properties of rGO-NiO nanofibers. Ammonia gas is detected by the rGO-NiO sensor with an excellent response time of 32 s. and recovery time of 38 s. respectively for a concentration of 50 ppm at room temperature. The intrinsic charge transfer due to the synergistic effect of the heterostructure will enhance the sensing performance.
