Abstract

Nanoparticles (NPs) of neodymium oxide were prepared by homogeneous co-precipitation method using neodymium nitrate and urea as precursors. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns have been refined by the Rietveld method and the Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) showed that the sample had a bandgap of about 4.59 eV. On the other hand, the photoluminescence (PL) spectrum indicated that the sample had a low concentration of singly ionized oxygen vacancies. The paramagnetic property of the NPs has been also tested by vibrating-sample magnetometer (VSM) measurements.
