Abstract

• Characterization of nano chitosan using different seafood waste. • Nano chitosan is synthesized and characterized from the seafood waste. • Prepared nano chitosan is characterized by the material composition and morphology. • Biocompatibility of the prepared nano chitosan shall be employed in tissue engineering. This research work deals with the synthesis and characterization of nano chitosan from the seafood wastes such as Crab (Brachyura), Lobster (Thenus orintalis), Snail (Gastropoda) and Squid (Decapodiformes). Prepared nano chitosan based on the sea species waste is characterized for the material composition, morphology and particle size determination using FTIR, AFM and XRD. Characterization results have very good synchronization with the other chitosans prepared for the proposed application. Biocompatibility of the prepared nano chitosan makes it more useful for the applications such as tissue engineering.
