Abstract

Dynamic vacuum thermolysis of (CH 3) 3SiN = P( n-Pr) 2(OPh) yielded hexa- n-propylcyclotriphosphazene, [N = P( n-Pr) 2] 3. It was found that pure [N = P( n-Pr) 2] 3is insoluble in most solvents, however, [N = P( n-Pr) 2] 3 can be crystallized directly from the crude reaction mixture using hot hexanes. The molecular structure of hexa- n-propylcyclotriphosphazene has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and multinuclear NMR studies.
