Abstract

Graphene oxide (GO) nanoparticles were successfully prepared by modified Hummer’s method for the application of transparent thin films and UV shileding property. Here we prepare functional poly vinyl alcohol(PVA) films with UV Shielding property and visible light transmittance using graphene oxide nanosheets as UV absorber. Comprehensive characterizations of the properties of GO nanoparticles were conducted. To analyze crystal structure of GO nanoparticles X-ray diffraction (XRD) was done. In Raman Specroscopy, peaks at 1354 and 1595 shows the D and G band intensities. D band indicating the degree of defects of crystalline structure and G band indicating inplane Vibrational mode. The photoluminescence (PL) certifies that GO nanoparticles possessed excellent optical properties in blue and green region and a strong emission peak is observed at 532.41nm. Finally, GO nanoparticles was obtained by modified Hummer’s method.
