Abstract

A stable colloidal solution of Au:Ag nanoparticles consisting of various molar ratios of gold and silver was synthesized in an aqueous media through a chemical reduction using trisodium citrate and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). UV–visible spectra confirmed the formation of nanoalloys as only one Plasmon peak is obtained. The transmission electron microscopy and dynamic light scattering proved the formation of nanoalloys with the average size of 20–25 nm. The effect of different mole ratios of SDS on synthesis conditions and the stability of the colloidal solution was investigated. The optimum SDS content produced a stable colloidal suspension with narrow size distribution of nanoparticles.
