Abstract

Two new structurally similar mononuclear Schiff base cobalt(III) complexes, [Co(BMP)2]·ClO4 (1) and [Co(EMP)2]·ClO4 (2) (BMP=4‐bromo‐2‐[(3‐methylaminopropylimino)methyl]phenolate; EMP=2‐[(2‐ethylaminoethylimino)methyl]phenolate), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single crystal X‐ray diffraction. The Co atom in each of the complexes is six‐coordinated by two Schiff base ligands, forming an octahedral coordination. The similar Schiff bases used in the preparation of the complexes with cobalt(III) perchlorate can result in the similar structures of the final products.
