Abstract

Polymeric iodoargentate hybrid [{Nd(DMSO)8}(Ag7I10)]n (1) and Pb-iodoargentate hybrid [{Nd(DMSO)8}(Pb2Ag2I9)]n (DMSO = dimethylsulfoxide) (2) were prepared using an in-situ formed octakis-solvated lanthanide complex as template. Compound 1 consists of a [Nd(DMSO)8]3+ complex cation and a 2-D [Ag7I10]n3n− anion. Ten AgI4 and two AgI4 units are interconnected via edge-sharing and face-sharing to give Ag10I18 and Ag2I5 SBUs, respectively. The Ag10I18 and Ag2I5 SBUs are alternatively inter-linked by edge-sharing to form the 2-D [Ag7I10]n3n− anion. The 1-D [Pb2Ag2I9]n3n− chain in 2 is constructed by interconnection of two PbI6 octahedra and two AgI4 tetrahedra via face-sharing. Compounds 1 and 2 have steady current density of 12.52nA/cm2 and 3.84nA/cm2 under visible light irradiation. They show photocatalytic activities in the degradation MB with degradation ratio of 95.8% and 90.1%, respectively.
