Abstract

The synergy between leaf extract and metals gives a remarkable enhancement in the catalytic properties of nanoparticles–reduction of Ag metallic nanoparticles in a simple, seedless, one–pot green synthesis. Biocompatibility, effective production control with excellent chemical and thermal robustness, and cost-effectiveness with high productivity are all advantages of the environmentally friendly approach to bio-fabrication. Biosynthesized silver nanoparticles were prepared using a harmless, specifically Phyllanthusniruri leaf extract. The Phyllanthusniruri leaf extract was used for capping silver nitrate. Leaf extract capsulated silver nitrate was incorporated into the sol-gel matrix and coated on stainless steel 304 to form corrosion-resistant and bacterial resistant hybrid coatings. The anti-corrosion and anti-bacterial coatings have been investigated for stainless steel 304. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) studies were taken on 3.5 wt% of NaCl solution. The bacterial studies on Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli explain that the silver nanoparticles supplemented silane coating in the existence of Phyllanthusniruri could deliver greater anti-corrosion and bacterial fortification compared to the unmodified sol-gel coated films.
