Abstract

Cells of the hybrid clone M (Barski) in culture are distinguished by functional properties which in part are derived from two different parental strains. The cells show a wide range of ploidy. Their nucleoli occur singly or in multiples and have diameters sufficiently large to permit autoradiographic resolution between labelled nucleoli and labelled extranucleolar chromatin. Tritiated cytidine and uridine were used for studying the significance of varying patterns of nuclear RNA labeling in single cells and in cell-pairs. The results indicate:
