Abstract

High Voltage Direct Current Transmission provides wide variety of advantage as compared to HVAC Transmission for long distance transmission, but the power transfer level by conventional vector control is limited. Inorder to improve the stability and power transfer level synchronverter is opted. Synchronverter control strategy in which a rectifier station would behave as synchronous motor and inverter station as synchronous generator. Rectifier station, DC transmission line and Inverter station would form the SHVDC Topology. The control topology involves the frequency droop and voltage regulation. The work aims to develop SHVDC for small signal stability which is compared with the Vector control strategy and also transient stability is analysed.
