Abstract

This is an innovative control strategy for the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission based on synchronverter technology. The control of sending end rectifier mimics a synchronous motor(SM) and the receiving end inverter controls acts as a synchronous generator (SG). The combination of these rectifier and inverter along with a DC link is called synchronverter HVDC (SHVDC). A frequency droop control and voltage regulation methods are important to explain the SHVDC technology. In this paper, HVDC transmission based on conventional vector control method is compared with HVDC transmission based on this new synchronverter technology.
