Abstract
The coordination between environmental events and developmental events in the reproductive system of 3 blood-feeding insects is discussed. Rhodnius prolixus exhibits a reproductive physiology of a relatively unspecialized sort. The development of a more parasitic more of life in Spilopsyllus cuniculi and the establishment of adenotrophic viviparity in tsetse flies has resulted in a more specialized control system.
