Abstract
Continuing professional development (CPD) is high on the agenda for all professionals working in health and social care. This paper suggests desirable qualities for an individual wishing to engage in CPD. It goes on to outline how SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis can be applied as a tool to help facilitate the progression of CPD. An illustration of the use of SWOT analysis in a professional development exercise is provided.
