Abstract
In recent years, non-conventional energy resources are getting more global attention than conventional energy resources due to environmental concerns. Usage of fossil fuels have simulated the global warming through carbon dioxide emission. Solar power extracting using PV panels is one of the best choice for renewable energy applications. To generate the required high voltage, a large number of series connected PV modules are used. This lot of PV module configurations have several drawbacks like poor MPPT performance. Therefore a buck boost DC-DC converter is essential for interfacing grid connected inverter and the PV cells. A switched inductor based buck boost DC-DC converter is designed to meet the required performance, which exhibits high voltage gain without having extreme duty ratio, high efficiency, and continuous input current with low ripple content than other buck boost converter topologies. This work also presents a comparative study among various buck boost converter topologies. By using MATLAB/SIMULINK, the performance of the converter studied and the result obtained.
