Abstract

Abstract A block of ’Senica Star’sweet com planted April 16, 1977, on the Hugh Tuttle Farm, Dover, New Hampshire, was utilized. Each plot consisted of a 30-ft row, and each treatment was replicated 4 times arranged in a Latin square design. Granular treatments were apllied as a single application at whorl stage (18-20 inches tall) using a Gandy plot applicator which directed the granuals over the whorls. Spray treatments were applied to the whorls either 1, 2, or 3 times starting at whorl stage and extending into pretassel stage. Applications were made using a 1-gallon B&G CO2-pressurized sprayer at 40 psi and a volume of 26 gallons/acre. Evaluations were made on July 28, 1977, by examining all the stalks and ears in each treatmentand determining the percentage injured by the first brood European corn borer larvae.
