Sustainable Cultural Tourism In Castles Cities . Case Study : The City Of Amedi - Kurdistan Region Of Iraq

Abstract

While people are looking to their heritage to prevent it from loss, they must go back to their historical sites as a realistic fact of the past. When the talk comes about then the richest one will be Kurdish history, its role and contribution to the enrichment of human civilization, especially that of Kurdistan was the spirit of human waves that developed the knowledge, science, literature, the Sumerian origin who invented the first characters and wheel, returns to this region. Among the archeological sites, Amedy, one of the oldest cities Kurdistan, was the secret of sustained resistance is the position on a crater including at least 100m height from the surrounding which we do not find an unprecedented for this city at Kurdistan, so since about one thousand years BC castle of intractable enemies protected its people over time. This research paper clarifies negligence of the assigned with the urban heritage file, lack of plans, visual databases, documentations, and scarcity of qualified the specialized staff causes clear waste of important economic as a once that constitutes a vital nerve of many states. The research aims to invest the urban heritage sites in Kurdistan for the revitalization of the cultural tourism as one of the most prominent mechanisms of sustainable reconstruction, and the possibility of overcoming obstacles that will prevent it. The results of the research will present the opportunities for economic investment and prepare a study area according to the natural, historical and economical characteristics can be activated through tourism planning, awareness, and cultural development on both levels the popular and official.
