Abstract
Homes made up of Mud with with sloping roofs covered with ‘khapra’( country made tiles ) is the characteristic of houses in rural area of Madhya Pradesh .These traditional rural houses are the best examples of environmental design response to regional climatic conditions. This study emphases the evolution of basic simple structural form achieved by using locally available material, articulation of spaces and sustainability. These beautiful houses are gradually being replaced by costly modern building materials.
