Looking beyond the tickbox approach of green‐rating systems that apply North American climatic criteria to a Brazilian context, Joana Carla Soares Gonçalves, a professor of environmental design at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Sâo Paulo, advocates a more far‐reaching way forward for sustainability in Brazil.
