Abstract
Middle school is an essential basic period for students to learn English. For a long time, some townships and small and medium-sized cities in China still do not pay enough attention to the teaching of oral English, which to a certain extent constrains the improvement of the overall level of students’ English and hinders the development of students’ English proficiency. This paper takes the current situation of students’ English proficiency in a secondary school as an example to investigate, analyze the issues that appear in teachers’ training and students’ learning, and put forward some suggestions to solve the problems. The author uses literature research and questionnaires as the main ways to integrate theory and practice throughout the research process. This provides a certain reference for spoken English teaching in township middle schools.
