Abstract

This study aimed to identify publications on environmental management in pig farming through the use of biogas digesters, as found in the literature and referenced and adopted as practices. The research can be classified as exploratory, as it seeks to learn more about the proposed topic. It is considered descriptive regarding the nature of the objective, with a qualitative approach. The data collection procedures involved a systematic review. The analyzed studies indicate that the implementation of biogas digesters for treating pig waste can improve the quality and productivity of breeding properties, contributing to solving problems mainly related to environmental issues and sustainability. Additionally, it encourages the retention of workers in rural areas through sustainable production. As future work, it is recommended to conduct studies seeking low-cost alternatives for implementing biogas digesters on small producer properties, utilizing biogas and biofertilizer to make production more feasible and sustainable without harming the environment.
