Abstract

SUMMARY The study of a sample of Easter Island soils revealed the presence of several keratinophilic fungi. The species isolated were Chrysosporium evolceanui, C. keratinophilum, C. tropicum, Ctenomyces serratus, and Diheterospora chlamydosporia; also isolated were some members of the Microsporum fulvum-gypseum complex: Nannizzia fulva, N. gypsea and Trichophyton ajelloi. Records of keratinophilic fungi from other parts of Oceania were reviewed.
