Abstract

Objective To investigate and analyze the status quo of the humanistic caring abilities of vocational nursing students at the internship in our hospital(People's Hospital of Taizhou), so as to provide references for carrying out continuous and effective humanistic caring education in higher vocational colleges and the teaching hospital. Methods This research adopts both self assessment and peer assessment nursing students' humanistic caring ability scale designed by Huang Gebing was taken for the self assessment , and a total of 262 nursing students who has finished more than 8 months' internship in our hospital were investigated.Meanwhile, the caring behavior measurement (CBM) designed by Li Jiaozheng was adopted for the peer assessment , nursing students' humanistic caring behavior was evaluated from the perspective of 102 hospitalized patients. Results The results of the self-assessment showed that the total score of the humanistic caring ability of Five-year-vocational nursing students and Three-year-vocational nursing students was (106.45±19.48) and (121.65±20.67) respectively, and the results of the peer-assessment showed that the total score of the humanistic caring ability of Five-year-vocational nursing students and Three-year-vocational nursing students was (87.29±16.76) and (94.71±17.55) respectively (P<0.05). Conclusion The humanistic caring ability of Three-year-vocational nursing students' was higher than that of Five-year-vocational nursing students, but the overall humanistic caring ability is low, which suggests that the vocational colleges and teaching hospitals should strengthen cooperation, explore practical and effective training strategies and build continuous nursing humanities education mode.
