Abstract
Femoral nerve injury is relatively uncommon among peripheral nerve injuries. Depends upon the level of injury, it could be divided into two groups: retroperitoneal and thigh level injuries. Each group requires different surgical approaches. Here we present four cases of femoral nerve injuries. Three of them were thigh level injuries and one was a retroperitoneal injury. The etiologies were all different. All of them received surgical exploration, neurolysis, and reconstruction using nerve grafts. All of them have good results. Our series show that the femoral nerve has a good potential for recovery. With accurate diagnosis and early surgical treatment, the outcome is usually good. The surgical anatomy and technique are described and the literature reviewed.
