Abstract

Objective To explore the surgical treatment and the prognosis of gastric stump carcinoma. Methads 24 cases of gastric stump carcinoma admitted from January 1980 to October 2001 were studied retrospectively. Results The cases represented 2.5%of all our gastric cancer in the same period. Resection and radical resection rate were 70.5% and 45.8%, the 1?3?5year suvial rate after radical resection and palliative resection were 86.5%?44.2%?32.3% and 66.7%?11.1%?0. Conclusion endoscopy examination periodically is the keypoint to detect gastric stump carcinoma. Radical resection is the major strategy for surgical treatment of gastric stump carcinoma and also is a important factor assiociated with the prognosis.
