Every year cardiac surgeons from all over the world meet at the Cardiothoracic Techniques and Technologies Meeting (CTT) to interact with one another and exchange opinions on the latest advances in techniques and technology prevalent in the field of cardiac surgery. Over the last 5 years, the variety of devices introduced to surgeons at the CTT undoubtedly qualify this era as a renaissance of our specialty. Many of us influenced by the advantages brought about by such innovations have changed our surgical practices and adapted new techniques that have, in turn, helped us take care of older and sicker patients.
