Abstract
After the hypercalcemic state has been definitively diagnosed as resulting from primary hyperparathyroidism, little can be offered by way of therapy other than excision of hyperplastic parathyroid tissue. At surgery a major problem often is to locate such tissue; not always an easy task, this requires exploration of both sides of the neck before any glandular substance is removed. The approach is demonstrated in a representative case.
