Abstract

Objective: To investigate the scientific collection on the cases of Arachnoid Cysts (ACs) portrayed in the literature in which surgical intervention was necessary, which approaches were used and their success. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review carried out in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), in the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) databases and the Online System for Searching and Analyzing Medical Literature (MEDLINE), with the descriptors: “Arachnoid Cyst” AND “Surgery” and filters: full text, languages: Portuguese and English, in the time frame of the last 10 years (2013-2022). Results and discussion: Of the 32 articles found, 10 were excluded due to thematic leakage, unavailability in full or due to duplication, totaling a final corpus of 10 studies. Final Considerations: There was convergence on the need for surgical intervention only in symptomatic cases and its high resolution. However, there is a divergence regarding the best surgical method, taking into account the specificities of each case.
