Abstract
Primary and secondary tendon repair in the metacarpal (thenar) zone of the thumb has been successfully performed. The zone can be explored by a proximal extension of the volar zig-zag incision used over the phalanges of the thumb. The surgical anatomy of this area is fully described and illustrated and the results of two successful cases given.
